Disco 300 Tdi 1994.
Shortly after starting up, the main drive belt jumps ont the outer rim of the water pump pulley, which then sounds like a bucket full of marbles. I have fitted a new belt and the water pump is OK and the pulley looks all right.
Can anyone help me on this one please?

get a straight edge to check the alignment. all the pulleys must be in a direct/perfect line.
perhaps a bracket has broken?
is the belt tension adjustment correct?

Thanks for that. All pulleys ar in line. The only component that I know nothing about is the Belt tensioner, but this appears to be a sealed unit.

SOunds like the belt tensioner is F***ed. the bearing in them went on mine. Might also be the water pump bearing if it is leaking. Get a new belt....

Thanks Johno.
New belt, new water pump.
There is movement on the belt tensioner, so have ordered a new one from Paddock.
Many thanks
