Drive Belt Freelander TD4

I am one of the very unlucky owners of a Freelander TD4.
When it works, the ride is great...but it has broken down so often.
I will ask the agents for my service records to post on this site. Wish me luck
Over the past six years the costs to repair my vehicle has almost reached the price I paid for this vehicle brand new.
So far 5 drive belts (ALTERNATOR, WATER PUMP, POWER STEERING PUMP) over a period of 18 months have shredded as well. The cost of each belt in St Lucia is 60 pounds and my brake pads cost 100 pounds.
The agents obviously do not know what is causing the problem.
I took the vehicle to another mechanic who says that one of the tensioner pulleys is not sitting straight. Has this happened to anyone? Can anyone tell me the part number so that I can purchase one from the UK.
Depending on the feedback I get from this site I will continue to let site members know of the history of my vehicle.

Sorry to hear about your sad tale earthling. . . the td4 is the most reliable other than the older series diesel and they were good , you say drive belts which one air con or auxiliaries ? if they are being shred then there is something not quite right ,find out which one and post back you will get a lot of useful info on here but you need very broad shoulders on lz as yer can also get ripped to shreds also

i would have thought your mechanic would have suspected that something was wrong after the 2nd belt was replaced

Hi, I'm in Greece and parts are difficult and expensive here but I've just ordered some belts and gaskets etc. from "Land-Rover-Parts-Shop.com" They post worldwide and if your county is not on their list you select "other" and submit your order, then they email you with a price and a link to complete payment.
Sorry I'm a bit new to this so not sure how to post the link here.
All I can say is they got back to me very quickly and the bits are on the way.

Belt tensioner failure on the td4 is not uncommon, the spring breaks and the tensioner starts to rattle, also look at the crank pulley, it has a built in vibration damper, these can break up too especially on high mileage vehicles.
