Doing some research. Thinking of buying

Hi. I am new here, and this looks like a great site.
I am thinking of getting a Land Rover for my wife next year, and want to learn as much as I can first, so I get the right one.

What are the differences between models?

Are there good years and bad years?

Are there certain motors better than others? I have seen from on here there are a few different ones out there.

How do they do for fuel mileage and power?

So far, I know we would want to have the fold down seats in the very back. I don't know the differences between the different models, but I know I don't really like the body style of the Range Rovers. I do like the looks of the Discoverer.

Thanks for any input. I will probably have lots more questions late, and I'll be lurking around in the shadows learning what I can.
