Hi all, i need a little advice. I have a defender 90 with discovery wheels and general grabber tyres on the front and goodyears on the rear. I bought it like this last year and never had any problems. The discovery wheels have spacers behind them. A few weeks ago without any sign, the front wheel came clean off with the spacer still secured to the rear of the wheel. OH CRAP! Luckily i was in a carpark, but still made a bloody great thud and the security guards must have had a right old chuckle looking at the security cam footage. I want to take the tyres off the discovery wheels and put them onto some new 16 inch modular style wheels. There by removing the crappy spacers which seem to keep coming lose even with lock tight! My only worry is will this effect steering ability or any other issues. I want to keep the current tyres as they are in good nick.
Im quite new to landys so all info would be great.
Cheers James

Were gona need more info from you. What size are your tyres? Unless there silly big i cant see why you had spacers on.

Its un clear from your post, did you have spacers on all 4 wheels or just the fronts?
Spacers are used to bring the wheel away from your radius arms etc on full lock or for the wide look. Typically you only NEED spacers if you run massive tyres and your hitting your radius arms.

We need to know what size tyres you have to give you a proper answer.

Oh and :welcome2: to the forum. Check out the introduce yourself section swell ;)

Thanks for the reply, sorry i was away from the landy when i put up the post. The tyre info is 235/85 R16 C. The spacers were fitted on all four wheels, the tyres dont look particularly big but my main objective is to have modular style wheels without any spacers behind. Thanks again, sorry for my ignorance, im still learning! :)

Sorry for the lack of reply, time zone and working etc i wasnt able to check the reply.

Yep like Daz said, you should be fine fella. Swap tyres over put modular wheels on and off you go. Enjoy.
