Discovery TD5 - starting problem.

Hi everyone,

This is my first ever post! Bought a TD5 auto about 6 months ago (had a wonderful TD4 auto for 10 years previous) and have a strange fault with it.

When starting it occasionally will not fire, just turns over and over.

Gave it 3 to 5 attempts and then it starts.

Not a major problem till the day I really need it to start and it won't.

Electronics problem?

Sounds like a problem I had, there is a number of faults it could be! have you done a bleed of the system yet? If not this is how to do it, Switch the ignition on and depress the accelerator five times and the car will go into bleed mode, the management light will flash during this and the pump in the tank will start and stop once the bleed has been done try the car if that works, I advise getting the injector seals checked which it could be by the diesel leaking back past the seal, also check out and the injectors, Mine wanted the injectors changed eventually to fix the problem. email me [email protected] if you want any more information.

Thanks for that, forgot to mention that the car actually does fire at the first attempt but dies immediately then spins and spins.

Will try bleeding it.
