Discovery sump plug missing ?

Ok could some one please tell me if the sump plug goes into hole in 1st photo....if yes what is it in photo 2 ......cheers

Photo 1 looks like your bellhousing...? So that could well be a wadding plug hole (to stop water getting in) Photo 2 is a auto gear box sump and the allen key bolt thing is your sump plug. My p38 has the same one on its auto box

One looks to be the bell housing and will be an inspection hole. The other is the sump, so will contain the sump plug

Ok thanks very much im getting somwhere now......if 1 is an inspection hole with plug missing would this have anything to do with discovery not starting & the flashing m & s on the dash in green. Im now thinking that because photie 2 is transmission drainage & looks fine....im basically back to square 1 & still car is stuck several miles away......anymore suggestions pleeeeese....
