Posting this as it might help others-recently had to renew my disco ins-got the renewal from the old outfit, quoting £284.00 tpft-thought I would look around, tried varous comparison sites-prices ranged from £300-£1000.
Stumbled upon Lancaster insurance by accident-they have quoted £172.00 for fully comp and offer drag home breakdown for another £39.00-so I have renewed with them, actually paying less than last year, have now got recovery(could be important with a Landy) and also got fully comp cover.

Do they have any requirements re- modifications?
Husband has just taken out a policy with frank pickles it cost 200 or thereabouts... he's 33 and 3 years NCB i think he's got 9000 miles to do in a year too, as it's his only vehicle...
my insurance is with sureterm with club discount it was 280 with 2 years NCB, but i'm only 28 and have 8000 miles as it is also my only vehicle. Also had a previous loss as some little scrote nicked my fiesta, helpful constabulary decided to chase it and so they crashed it at speed and compacted it.....

did he not take out there off road insurance then ??
as on that policy they dont need proof of no claims i got my 110 insured through them full off road cover for £105

Dunno about mods-apparently it is a special policy for landy's-try doing a quote online see what it comes up at.For me it is a 2nd vehicle with 5000/yr allowance-I wanted to make it 7 seats (dickie seats) but this would have pushed it up over £500-seems they don't like the boot seats-anyway for me it beat Frank Pickles and Sureteam.

hmm, not sure. pretty sure he had to send no claims, but i think it is off road covered too.
he sorted it out himself so probably didn't shop around. we were having words at the time as he had just spent £££ fixing his bmw and decided to sell it in favour of his brothers disco which needed taxing etc...lol

aha! both ours are seven seaters, maybe thats it then. they come in handy when chaufeurring old rellies about to stop them getting lost!lol

Any of you boys over 25,got a disco over 15 years old, garaged and no mods then try Footman james...they class anything over 15 years old as a classic. I got my 90 fully comp, with unlimited mileage, european cover and breakdown cover for £136.....

N.F.U. gave me the best quote for V8 7 seater 2006 including RAC full cover, approx £500 a year that with just 1 yrs no claims, with about 6,000 miles a year and still using comapnay car for private use. Most other companies were around £700 to £1500! They only charge 1.5% interest for monthly payments too. And its a mutual company so may get some bonus??

isn't "off road" insurance a bit of a scam?? surely if a lane is classed as a BOAT then you are covered by standard insurance as it is technically a road - albeit unsurfaced??

Swift cover charge me £260 fully comp with 10+ years of NCB

im with Lancaster for me disco full comp all mods £350 a year. breakdown cover is great with Lancaster pick up within the hour every time and never once complained about how much mud is on the disco when its been recovered, i used them 9 times last year

and frank pickles for the 90 £150 a year all mods. the breakdown is £65 a year

Dont know what some of you guys are moaning about, best Quote i got for my 97 300 tdi 7 seater was £612 fuly comp with legal:eek::eek:.

I am 44 got a company car, so cant use that NCD, two claims in the last 3 years, one for hitting some one up the back side on a round about -normal he pulled out and stoped ... and wait for it.......a Gazzebo attacked my freelander....

And I thought Bike insurance was meant to be bad.......I am paying £175 for my Daytona 955i fully comp.

You wanna try 'frank pickles insurance' second car tell em its got some mods and keep the mileage down

as blonde as this is going to make me sound, does second driver make a difference then? when we were younger.....dean25 and me 21 adding me to his policy made it cheaper......
kinda assumed it would always be the same:confused:
i kind of like going out to drive way and picking a vehicle anyway, and should we go out in one of our cars we know the other can always drive the car back.
completely unrelated, but the inside of dean's is the same as mine only being a year older, but with the lift and tyres is quite a bit higher. and has no side steps......at some point soon i am going to leap out of his as if it were mine and land on my arse or worse!:D
