why-me?

Does anyone know if the 'mode' selector on the gear shift surround can be made to work by the home mechanic? I have a Disco II (2003) V8 auto, and would like to get the sport mode working if possible ( it's just a dummy switch at the moment), if it can be done, what parts do I need? are all the wires / electronics etc in place already?

why-me?

Thanks to anyone who has looked at my query, you can all ignore it now, as I have solved it. The switch is not a dummy, it's jammed solid!! after taking it out and frigging the wires, the light on the speedo surround lights up, so it looks like sport mode will work when I get a new switch.

Why-Me,

I have a 2001 TD5 Auto, the mode button you refer to does just what is says on the tin, and has done so from new, nothing added and nothing taken away.
Have youi checked the back of the switch is it connected to the loom ?
If it is then check your fuses.

Thanks for the reply Dor1s, because it has not worked since I bought it (6 months ago) I assumed it has never been connected, may be an optional extra, I will start checking it through when I have time and let you know the result.
