Discovery head lining retrim

With the ever common problem of the sagging Discovery roof/head lining, I ended up spending a lot of time ringing round, getting quotes (Land rover want £500 - yes, £500 for a new one!! :jaw: ) and generally trawling the net for somebody to re-trim my existing one.
In the end and through word of mouth, I used a guy who is literally 1/4 of a mile from my house!

Long story short - £80 and I have a new head lining in black but any colour/finish is available depending on how much you want to spend.
I did all the prep work myself inc removal of old lining and glue.

He also retrims any part of the interior you desire, be it door cards, dash boards, panels, etc etc. He is based in Tamworth, Staffs.

That's what I thought given some of the ridiculous quotes I had, so thought I'd share the gen here in case anyone else was considering getting it done.

His workshop is a right state and to be honest it put me off when I walked in, but went ahead with it purely by the consistent praise I was hearing about his work. No regrets whatsoever.

£80? Bargain, I wouldn't even get outta bed for that considering how tricky and fiddly it would be! Fair play.

how tricky and fiddly can it be if the op has done all the prep, removed from vehicle, stripped old lining and glue, removed all fixings and fittings presumably, its simply a case of applying glue and fixing new lining after that with a bit of trimming afterwards, now im not saying its easy as a one off for the home DIYer but if you have the workspace and the materials already I think its a fair price for a fairly simple job.

I will go with that ^^^

Spray Tack adhesive and as the head lining is a light weight stretchy material with a bit of skill, like done it before, all for just £80 for a large disco roof is a supprise even though all the fixtures were removed and refitted by the owner.

It's does look good by the way..... but for me I may spray the plastic to match.

Its a straightfoward job as long as you know a few tricks. I watched a guy do his for the first time...Dont touch the liner until the glue has properly dried of the pressure forces the glue into foam and your handprint is there for ever...make sure you poke the liner right into the holes for sunvisors and grab handels, or when you attach them the fabric stretches too much and tears.
