Hi GUys

Done a bit of searching already, but I wanted your opinions please

I dived in head first and bought a p38 range rover recently mainly as a second car for green laning family days out etc etc. The car is ok, but I have now realised it might not be the best for what I want to do with it, so I am thinking of a discovery.

Budget up to £8000 ish, £9000 max, but I dont mind payig a lot less if its a an older one but a good one.

do I go Auto or Manual?? I personally want an auto as I prefer it and thats what I am used to, and I have heard stories about crunching manual boxes, any advice?

Would you consider the V8, running costs aside as i won't be doing too many miles in it.

also I am trying to figure out all the models gs, xs etc, I think I know what the landmark one is,

Hope you don't mind me asking for help but I don't want to make the same mistake again if I do switch.

P

Thanks for any help

I did the P38 Thing - my bank account can still feel it! Loved the landie experience so bought a 2003 Disco 2 at a dealers, I didn't want to buy without a warranty. So far, two new airbags, two new fog lamps, new gearbox switch, new ignition switch, roof lining dropped and windscreen rebounded and roof rails sealed. We discovered at this point we had two new sunroofs fitted by the previous owner. The repair receipts amount to a lot - and I hope there will be no more!

The car was the best one we saw & all our problems happened having driven it away! the dealer Thompson &Thompson, at Crick, were great.

It's an ES, all bells & whistles but a TD5, 20 - 25 mpg, not the fabulous 4.6 V8 before, LPG and up to 15mpg but gorgeous.

I also think the Disco handles better I love mine but pay your money & take your choices/chances!!!

with 8k - 9k to spend you could get a well sorted dogs bits disco v8
and have more than enough cash for fuel :)

or get somthing later for same sort of money as a dogs disco1 , and spend the spare cash making sure all the electrics are spot on

i know what i would do but thats just me :D it would be the best 300tdi pre fly by wire i could find without sun roof's ( regardless of age ) condition rules ok:cool:
