Bought a stolen recovered land rover discovery 2 v8 steering lock smashed no keys or fob bought a door handle and ignition lock and put them on got no ignition light or nothing on the dash not even a battery light am I missing something here as I'm new to landrover all help would be appreciated thanks
 
Not sure about the petrol ones, but on the diesel ones, there is a circuit board in the key which needs programmed to the car for the immobiliser.
I presume the petrol one is the same for the alarm system
 
Got the key put new lock on so I'll look into it thank you just wanted to hear it running before I throw more money into it thanks again
 
The fob is part of the alarm system. It not only talks to the central locking but also to the alarm/immobiliser. The keyfob needs to be coded to the vehicle with a nanocom or similar.... replacing the physical damage is just the start of the repair. There is a sticky somewhere on here with info on the alarm system on Discovery’s.
