Discovery 1 transfer box replacement

Hello to you all,My 1st time using the forum so apologies if i'm posting in the wrong place! Here's my question; I have a 1994 300tdi Discovery which i use to tow my caravan, but i have a whine from the transmission at certain speeds on the over run, just keeping the weight of my foot on the throttle pedal keeps it fairly quiet, been told it could be the transfer box? If this is the case,i have a low mileage[but rotten] 1995 v8 auto here for spares with a totally silent transmission, could i use this transfer box in the 300 tdi? Any advice will be very welcome, many thanks.

yes its a straight fit ,but take front prop of first ,then rear and try driving in difflock ,front and rear diff can sound to be transfer box

He wont get far with the front and rear props off
