I thinking of fitting a custom exhaust onto a Series 1 Discovery 300TDi Auto with two side exits, one on each side, and pondering the routing of said pipes. Am considering rectangular tail pipes. Obviously got things like clearances, accessing grease nipples to think about. Have thought about routing under the fuel tank and fitting a heat shield.

Will also be upgrading the turbo, intercooler and air cleaner.

Any thoughts, advice and suggestions gratefully received 😊

As the standard exhaust system at the tail end is shielded from the fuel tank by the the chassis which ever side of the vehicle it exits, so the joint for the two pipes plus the balance pipe would somewhere at the gearbox cross member area.
V8 exhaust down pipes meet around that area and with a large centre exhaust box sometimes.
