I'm having a few problems with the tick over of my D1 200 TDI, below should be two videos of what it's doing.

The landy starts up first turn of the key every morning no problem, however, I do have to clear it before it runs at a somewhat normal idle, by which I mean putting my foot on the accelerator which splutters and clears with a bit of smoke. (blue/black)

She runs absolutely fine on the road, very responsive and does what it should do, but when I idle, no matter what the engine temp is I get this abnormal blubbing rather than smooth tick over, If I alter the idler it does run fine, but the revs are then too high. She's not a happy bunny.

Am I looking at valve clearances/injector clean?

Thank you!

Crank pulley tight?
Check pump timing, rotate 360 degrees and check again.

Weak cylinder? crack injector pipes one at a time and see if the idle changes.

All 200 tdi's will will give black smoke on start up, it's the auto excess fuel input system that gets them going quick, and a bit of blue smoke when cold is not unusual. Without a rev counter in the vehicle or a hand held it is hard to know the actual speed. Worth a check for a weak cylinder but as it is smooth with just a few more revs If it were mine I would set it there at least until checks [ Compression, injectors, timing ] are done.
