The gear stick has been a bit wobbly, whilst slowing down l changed from 4th to 2nd but couldn’t get it in 2nd, or any other gear except 4th.
Luckily, so to speak, this happened a hundred yards from my house.
I stripped out the selector, and no gear selector yoke bush or c clip, still didn’t seem to be able to select gears.
I replaced the yoke/clip, temporarily fitted the gear stick and can only move the gear stick sideways hearing the gear select guide moving below it, l can only put it into 2nd or 4th, can’t really tell.

I am going to take tx box/gear box off😌, but before getting stuck into it has anyone any ideas about this.

Thank you

Can you also select reverse? is the yoke far enough forward on the selector shaft? The grub screw that holds it on should engage with a detent on it....

Hi Bennehboy,
Can not select reverse, and yes the yoke grub screw is located in the detent.

The gear stick will not move into any other gear, just doesn’t locate any position where it could start to go into a gear.

I took a short video but can not see how to upload it.

Afraid I can't think of anything else other than some of the selector/fork mechanisms being misaligned or severely worn then - but I'm by no means an expert.

Hopefully someone else has a bright idea that doesn't require a strip down - as that's what I'd be doing next if it was me.

Yeah I agree, do feel like something has become misaligned.
Feel like waving the 2lb magic wand Birmingham screwdriver at it!!!

Appreciate your help.

Those still sound like problems associated with the yoke & selector.
I had similar restricted selections before I re-fitted the bush & lever.
Did you check the selector rod / fork would move OK before you refitted the gear stick - to make sure it could move OK ?
Maybe the missing bits of plastic bush or the circlip are in there preventing movement in certain directions ?

I never found the circlip that disappeared from mine - which is still slightly worrying even after a few years !

Hi, Yes I have tried selecting gears with the yoke removed and with a screwdriver in the end of the selector shaft but still the same, someone at a gear rebuild shop suggested I checked the reverse collar was right back, it seems to be but there is little in this.
Wondered if the C clip was jamming somewhere but unable to tell.
