When i pull lever back nothing happens no pump noise wipers dont come on wipers work well though so i had a look two electrical connectors one on the left one on right when i pull the left one out electric is coming out of it but with the connecter off the wipers work when lever is pulled back

The OP does say that the wipers do work. My reading is that they don't work, nor does the screen wash pump run when he pulls the stalk back

Hi Brian,

Yeah, same as I thought ,But tbh , sometimes what he writes is difficult to comprehend. So I was asking if the windscreen pump motors are frozen?

Mine did the same last week in the snow, had to pour hot water into the wheel arch to defrost them.

Cheers

Hi Neill,
Yeah, I know what you mean, the last time I had that happen to me was in my old Granada, I thought that washing up liquid and some meths would be OK, but the whole damned thing froze up, tank and both pumps, cost a small fortune to get it all replaced, the freezing had cracked the pumps and the reservoir. Since then I've always used proper screen wash fluid at the correct concentrations.

Sounds Fun,...

I was using Halfords -10 and it was still liquid except for the pumps , I suspect I filled up the cavity around it with snow. Once I chucked some hot water on them , job done. Now has -20 in it.

Cheers

So two connecters with both in nothing works when one is disconnected the wipers work when you pull stick

My english cant put it better
I've not had the steering cowl apart myself, but how I read this is.....
No wash/wipe functions from from right hand stalk. There is a connector on either side of the steering wheel (presumably one for either stalk). If you disconnect the wiring to the left hand stalk (lights), the wipers now work when the right hand stalk is pulled forward - is that what's happening?

no electrical plugs on qctual washer bottle

Of course, silly me....
Well, maybe there's a problem with the pump that you've disconnected, and it's stuffing up the wash/wipe function. Just a thought, if the connectors are the same, try swapping the one you've removed over to the other pump and see if it still works. You may find the headlight or rear screen washer springs into life if you do that, but it would prove the point. Having said that, I think I would double check with the circuit diagrams first!

changed pump no luck when the black connecter is disconnected the wipers work though cant get my head round it no pump noise fuse is fine
