disco1 heated rear window problem

got problem with the heated rear window on the disco. switch it on the relay
clicks and the fuse blows. checked for shorts as best i can. its supposed to
have heated mirrors too. any one have any idea as to how to track down the
problem?

Disconnect the wires from the rear window - does it still blow?
If so, broken cables in the jumper from the body to door could
be the culprit - or the insulation may have chafed through where
the cable enters, or runs through, the chassis.

Heated mirrors should come on with the heated rear screen so your short
circuit may be in the mirror system.

thanks for the help.
i disconnected the mirror wiring in the footwell and it still blew the
fuse. i think the next step will be to check the heater relay.

Are you sure? The Disco II has the mirror heaters associated with the
front heated screen. This is all part of the "winter pack" of heated
front seats, windscreen and mirrors.
