Disco tdi bor v8 for off roading

Hi. Im looking to get into off roading and am looking at getting a early disco to mod. Some people seem to say get a v8 with lpg kit, others say 200 tdi. I have run a 200tdi as an everyday workhorse but have had nothing to do with the V8's what do people think?

For offroading I'd say tdi But only because they are easier to waterproof and wade in petrols don't like water.
