same as mine....

i've been told by the garage that it is a common problem as the manifold warps and breaks the studs. if the exhaust is leaking i think it does affect the power and MPG..
mine's going into the garage next week for new manifold studs and gaskets... i'll report back thursday or friday when i get it back.

hi steve how did u get on with manifold.had mine in to day booked in for a week and hasnt done it i might just buy parts off him and do it myself.

Hi, broken manifold studs are common, usually at the back, (no5 cylinder), not too bad to do, before going down the drilling out route, build up the broken stud with weld and then weld a nut onto the lump. Let it cool off slightly and then try and undo it. 9 times out of 10 this will work. Hope this helps.:) Also, the climate controls are not a sealed unit, use a thin blade up either side of the control unit to release spring tags and remove unit, remove 2 small phillips screws on the rear of the unit and take the back off to access bulbs. You might want to pre order these as they are a bit odd, especially the one that lights up the buttons.

had the job done, re-conned manifold (skimmed flat) 6 new studs,
car pulls so much better and the MPG has gone up. alot :D

the garage showed me the old manifold, there was over 5mm gap on the head face, no wonder it broke the studs.
cylinder 1,2 and 5 blowing
just make sure you get a skimmed or new manifold, and all will be well
also you'll need a stud extractor.
