Hi to all you clever people(I hope!) out there.
I want to swap a Disco(1996) radio cassette with a Freelander(2005) radio/CD.The disco has dash controls and the new radio/cd won`t work them. The old unit operated the dash controls via a seperate white plug and there is nowhere on the new unit to plug it in,Also the rear speakers have feedback when the new unit is installed(front are ok)Someone told me there will be a seperate amplifier that I will need to locate and disconnect(not behind the dash!).Make any sense to anyone?
Thanks in advance
Ged

Im not 100 per cent sure here, but i know that Blaupunkt cd's will work on Peugeot controls on the column, and i think Clarions do as well. Might be worth checking to see if they will work on a Disco too, someone will make a CD that is suitable.

As buzz cox says there is the sub in the back door with an amp, also some of the later models have seperate amplifier for all the speakers, just make sure this is not the case if your head unit has a built in amp. This is the one behind the dash I think, cant think where else it might be...

There will almost sertainly be one behind the sub, but that only runs the sub.

If there is nothing behind the dash the the cables must be straight through. You could test this bu puting a meter on one of the speaker cables at the stereo end and measuring the resistance, it should be in the reigon of 4and8 OHM's.
