yo guys tell me what is wrong with my brakes? 3 months ago I replaced my pads on all four wheels etc the rears calpers pistons were so stiff etc but I managed to get the pads in etc the front were done inmatter 2 mins push the pistons back and swoped the pads easy.

and now it i squealing like hell when cornering and when apply brakes on downhill slowing i can feeling the wheels roughing etc and now when I reversed into my drive it locked up u reakon it is the rear pads?? or the rear psitons need replacing?

Not really enough information to go on there but I would say you need to get the thing jacked up so all the wheels are off the deck then rotate each wheel in turn and feel for any binding brakes.

When replacing pads, the pistons should move easily back into the caliper. If it is a struggle to move the pistons, then really you should take the time to free the sticking caliper, clean the outside of the piston with clean brake fluid. If that doesn't work, then it is probable the pistons are corroded and need replacing along with the seals. That means stripping the calipers down I'm afraid.

If you are not confident to work on the brakes please take it to a garage and get it done properly, there is no room for stupid cock ups on your brakes!!

yeah I know mate I can work on the brakes no probs just couldn't work out why etc u confirmed my suspection guess more time in my garage -) u recommend stripping it down not replacinhg it with new calpers?

Same problem I had a few weeks back, pistons seized up causing the brake pads to "stick on".

Due to time restriction's, needing the car back on road asap, being very cautious when it comes to the brakes (it is a 2-ton brick after all) and not wanting to spend hour's stripping & cleaning the calipers I opted to buy new calipers (traded old one's in for some money back). I suppose it all depends on how badly corroded the calipers are & whether you have the time/patience to clean them up.

classic kev and derwin thanks for the help yeah I suppose so best way is forward is for me to jack it up now and remove the calpiers and check it out if ok I will replace the piston and seals etc if not will replace the whole thing etc Paddock does them quite cheap too. 46 quids for one caliper not bad eh?

yo guys all fixed!! I jacked the rear up and one wheel was stiff so taken wheel off and looked at the calpier and guess what one pad has the entire brake pad missing all it has was the metal backing plate sticking to the disc!! so taken that off and replaced with a new pad and all okay now I looked at the pad my guess is the pad must have broken off the backing plate. the rest of the pads is all okay and it is only 2 months old!! phew saved money on this one -)
