Hi guys disco struggling to start in the cold. Most likely glow plugs. Any suggestions on a pre warming gadget suggestions appreciated as nobody is keen on replacing plugs.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry I'm new to the discovery 3 , my FBH is not working and I need to service it but I found a few different kits online when I googled it. What's worth having and what's not I don't know but the people on here with more experience will.

Yeah I think that sounds like what am looking for. Any ideas on brand or where to find them?
Cheers

There's a thing called the Oval Timer made by Webasto, the same manufacturer as the factory fuel burning heater, so is compatible with it. The oval timer allows you to control the FBH, and so fire it up at a set time, so to preheat the engine.

I was in the same boat and bought a remote module from eBay, a guy in romainia makes them. They used to be £50 but the price has risen now. Not sure if it ls worth buying from EU on ebay anymore.

Run the heater for 15mins and even in -5C with no glow plugs the car fires straight up.

Is the temp gauge behaving? Another thing that can cause poor cold starting is a dodgy oil temp sensor. Easy to change, should be obvious if its dodgy as will report -40C or something silly.

Temp readings are accurate but will go look it up see what I find.
Thanks for the advice

I meant the sensor its self will report silly readings when you read it with a code reader or something, not that it will show you silly temperatures on the dash. Sorry I wasn't sure how clear I was.

Either way an FBH controller is a great upgrade, I'm sure the neighbours are happy that i can warm the disco up in silence hah.

Any chance you can send me a link for this module ? I can’t seem to find anything and it sounds the cheapest option. Worth looking before spending hundreds, although FBH sounds great.

Google Webasto oval timer 1533. Lot's of places sell them, but choose a UK supplier. The kit runs at about £140, with the instructions and important wiring harness.

You can buy a webasto branded one (the people who make the heater) or there are different 3rd party ones. Search wbus module on ebay and there are a few you can look at, obviously no idea what ordering from EU is like at the moment.

There is also www.lr-fbh.co.uk, they are expensive compared to the ebay option but the company is in the UK and the guy has good YouTube videos on how to fit it.

I use my wife’s hair dryer under the bonnet for 5 mins on full. It works well but would rather a tech solution if there is one.
