Good morning all,

New here but have had a few discos in my time. My latest one has a problem that my local garage is not getting their head round. So here is the story and any advice gratefully received.
Once upon a time I put my Landy in for its MOT> New steering rack put on and a grand later out it comes. Drove it 200 miles and on comes the battery light. Now this battery is 1 year old so it couldn't be that. Luckily iy happened as I drove into my driveway. Phone the garage and they ordered a new alternator. So arranged to bring the car into the garage on the Sunday for them to work on it first thing Monday. So the garage is approximately 1.5 miles away. As we are travelling ar 20 miles an hour to the garage the engine starts smoking. We get out pop the bonnet and yay you guessed it flames and smoke!! Being a firefighter I grab the co2 cylinder and put the fire out ASAP!!! Insurance said nope car being written off. 6 weeks later car returned by insurance group stating there wonderful engineer says there is no evidence of fire!!!!! Guide dog had a different story but hey Back to garage hardly any fuel in it and two flat tyres..... brand new actually but thats another fight. Alternator replaced and I have the old one, which I add is burnt to a crisp. evidence sent including a report from garage to which the engineer said heat damage..... ok so after the alternator being replaced they put £20 of fuel in. Light still flashing but car started... result!!!!! NOOOO. it now will not start . Turns over but the garage says it wont fire up..... I though if they purged the system it would herlp. They did that but nothing.....Help needed...
