My remote fob wasn’t working. Well it wasn’t achieving anything. Oddly though the red light in the fob flashed regularly whilst the key was in the ignition, being activated by the transponder ring. After pulling out the headlining I found the rf receiver- full of water. When dried the car started for the first time in five years.
Presumably the fob flashing in the lock is a clue to the fault being in the rf side of things
