right the td5 is being strange to pull off, and i do have a habbit of riding clutch :)... i reckon it wants a clutch, but ringing around to get a new flywheel its like 350 quid ?????? do you neeed to have new twin mass flywheel or just get the plate ? .... secondly has anyone done a guide on how to do a clutch on td5 ? thirdly reckon i could do it on the ground ? :)

you can do it on the floor by jacking drivers side up and using engine crane through passenger door with chaine on top most drivers side t/box to g/.box securing bolt ,dual mas flywheel should be changed as its part of clutch unlike solid flywheel ,you should check/change spigot bush at the same time

i can probably borrow someones ramp .... reckon its hard to do ?

the fecking things 300 odd quid ? thats without the things ill break :)

Not so much hard as bloody heavy, that sodding acoustic cover is a pain to get off in one piece as well, thank god my V8 doesn't have or need it.

Fairly easy if you put engine crane through passengers' side& attach sling around gearbox only & not around transfer box as well as this lets the whole thing balance & easier to align shaft to NEW spigot bearing. Take care not to pinch clutch slave cyl pipe in bell housing (profit from my stupidity)! I'd change to solid flywheel - noisier but better than DMF.

its my mums so she will want comfot so not using solid one, iv got someone selling me one now,

let me just get one thing straight, surely all i have to do is unbolt bell housing, props off and other mounts, then just slide the gear box back and down ? cant be taht hard surely ? only need to take top half of gear lever off i guess ??

you need to remove consol and gaiter unless you want to rip box out ,dmf protects ransmission better than solid thats why they fit them

Why do you do that

The dual mass flywheel, in my humble opinion, is one of the daftest inventions ever, I full well know the techie knobs are going to slate me big time for saying this, but the main thing that fcuks gearboxes and drivetrain's up are the drivers, driver abuse is the main cause of premature failure to the DMF, how daft is that.
