Any help much appreciated,
I am converting my defender to auto by using a salvage D2 TD5 2002.
Whilst removing the gear select cable from the shifter end, the star shaped retaining clip went ping - never to be seen again and the white bush that surrounds the ball end of the cable is damaged.
I need a new bush and retaining clip - landrover will only sell me a complete shifter unit.
Any one know where I can get these parts from.
Thanks Phil

search for FTC4746 , it's the kit nr 10 in the pic if there's something you need from there, my question is how will you syncronise the Defender immobiliser with the D2 Auto engine ECU's immobiliser? , also how will the diagnostics work cos afaik on defender the interface is connected different in the socket, i hope you thought about all these things cos it's not just a swap gearboxes, pedals and engine ecu's kind of thing... you have to addapt the autobox ECU too to the defender wiring, also it must comunicate with the ABS ECU which again is different than the D2 one...unless you want to create some hybrid which will work with improvised wiring, poor management and no diagnostics

Hi,
Thanks for the reply,
The parts I need are at the other end of the cable where they enter the shifter lever.
I have fitted the disco engine and gearbox and am running the original defender ECU along with Ashcroft Compushift ECU for gearbox. I have driven it and seems to work well. Have lost speedo drive so will have to work something out for that although compushift display shows speed.
It has been a great big learning curve.
Thanks Phil
