Morning folks,

I have a 98 Disco 2 and without any reason ( car locked) the alarm went of this morning. The doors unlock/lock normally with the remote, the engine starts ( not immobilised) in fact everything works normally except the siren won't stop unless I disconnect the battery Grrrrrrrr
If I reconnect the battery its exactly the same as above.
Disconnected the siren but that leaves the whole of the ignition system dead. Not bothered if the siren never works again but need to stop it before the neighbours phone the police!

Car Battery or key fob battery?

It was car battery. But after I put the new one in, it took 24 hours before the electronics and alarm settled down. With the new battery in the car wouldn't switch off and all the dash lights stayed on. I took off the neg connection on the battery overnight and the next !morning it was all fine when I re-connected. None of it made sense except it's a Land Rover

Try to lock with key instead of fob and if the alarm rets it means the problem is with the volumetric alarm, don't unlock with key though, for unlocking use only the fob, or do you say the alarm sounder goes off even with unlocked vehicle or engine running? if yes there's other issue maybe with the sounder circuit just confirm it's intermittent alarm sound not continuous horn

It went again last night. Key fob would not open door, so opened it with the key. Started first time. Switched engine off but motor kept running and all dash lights came in. Turned it off a second time and the engine stopped and again all dash lights came in. Removed neg battery cable and left it overnight.
This morning I reconnected the battery and the car started again first time and all the dash lights went out as they should. Drive seven miles and parked. Went for a coffee. Two hours later returned to the car and noticed through the window (without using the remote fob) that all dash lights were on despite the keys being in my pocket.
Started first time and all lights went out. Drove seven miles home. Same procedure again - it would not switc off at first attempt but switched off at second turn of key. All dash lights came on. Have now disconnected the battery and am looking up the number for Samaritans
