hi guys,the problem started when my wife was towing a horsebox,the engine over heated.I refilled the cooling system seemed to be ok for about a week then i noticed the seal on the expansion tank had blown,i removed the thermostat and ran it without the expansion cap on from cold there was an eruption off water from the exp tank,no oil in the water and vice versa,radiator seems fine please help cheers

have you checked rad is hot all across core because its most likely cause of problem ,head gasket probably
As James says this is the first sign of dead gasket.
Normally starts with the p gasket leaking, people let the coolant get low, engine overheats and blows the head gasket, this in turn blow the expansion tank.
New tanks are semi clear i assume so people can actually check the levels.

no do gasket easy enough ,just undo manifold bolts turbo will pull away ehough without disconnecting it and just infront behind turbo is brass block drain 13mm spanner size drain before removing head to stop engine flooding with coolant dropping pipes off isnt enough,check rad hot all across and down when done ,fill to overflowing using 2 x bung (rad,top of thermostat housing)excess in header tank will blow out cap unless you want to do it again
hi again replaced the head gasket set the tappets up starts like a dream but once it has warmed up to its normal temp radiator is cold no warm air in the the cab put a new thermostat in could it be the water pump ,it doesnt sound to noisey helep cheers and ty for the help

It sounds like you haven't bled the cooling system properly. Do a search on here as there are a few threads that cover the procedure.

hi, i hope you had the head skimmed when you did the head gasket as alloy heads should be skimmed when removed, if not this is false economy !!
