hi guys 1st post--- I have had to replace the diff in my 300tdi disco.. I used a disco2 diff and on refitting the o/s half shaft I noticed that it appears to be catching when steered( when I turn the hub as if steering right thr stub axel gapes to the rear by about 5or 6 mm) Also when I build it up the shaft is about 3 MM. too short to get the washer and clip on.

you know you can wind one of the flange bolts in the threaded bit on the end of the shaft to give you something to pull on, dont you?
i used d2 diffs on my 300tdi and all was well, both front and rear so not sure whats going on with yours, what age is the 300? is it a very early one?

It's a late 96. I have concluded that it must be the oil seal gripping the shaft so I'm in the middle of stripping off the silver ball to get the shaft out and check the seal.
