Hello all.

Saw this at B&Q FOR £2.00 and thought it maybe ok for the 03 FL.
I asked if this was at every store, and was where they have stock to shift basically. Is it ok for Freelander Diff?

It lists GL5 in the back. The IRD and diff should only use GL4 as an additive in GL5 can damage the bronze thrust washers.

Nope, not anymore - GL5 additives are yellow metal safe as the additive pack was changed little while after this issue was recognised.

The main issues with the GL4 / GL5 since the 'yellow metal safe' is misunderstanding in general - basically it is a specification for GEAR OILS - not gears and synchronisers - where it can cause issues with sychronisers. whilst it will not cause issues with diff thrust washers - for example - in an IRD.

that B&Q stuff is a great price though - shame it is over 1000 miles to my old B&Q (Or Bert Quigley's as we used to call /em) :)

go on joe_H thin of the money you will save LOL I had a friend when I was working and if he heard of something cheaper say 100 miles away he would have a day off and go and fetch it , he would loose a days pay plus his fuel money just to get something a £1 less

lol :) - yes Teddy - I have known people like that.
I would get lost if I went back to the UK, haven't been there in over 10 years.:) - they all drive on the wrong side of the road as well - bloody foreigners.:D
I suppose with a long enough Snorkel I could try the Bay of Biscay route ?. That is how we got here 13 years ago, in our 'yott' (which was also our home for 10 of the last 13 years).
Could reverse the route and go from La Coruna to Cameret sur Mer in Brittany. Then from there to Falmouth.o_O

I must confess we do order from the on line 'british corner shop' - got to get Paxo Stuffing, Spam, Teabags etc etc /////......... perhaps get them to add it as cooking oil ? :)

Used to use Amazon all the time as it was free shipping over 25 quid, but the beggars stopped that.. we had parcels every week. Once ordered a short dated catering pack of 48 LARGE Bakewell tarts from Amazon only to find that when they arrived - In 2 bloody huge boxes !, that there were actually 48 PACKS of 4 Large Bakewells each !!!.
Doh

For some strange reason I gain about 15 Kg that year... No idea why.......
I think we also introduced most of our village to the delights of Bakewell tarts. Even the cat got to like them....
