Diff lock question

went out in landy in snow engaged diff lock to get up a bendy hill is it true your not suposed to use the diff lock to much please advise its got me a bit worried
 
I assume you're talking about 4wd?

It's fine so long as at least one wheel can slip...... so as soon as you are back on a good traction surface you should change back into 2wd
 
if its the series in yer avatar, you aint got a difflock.
its a dog clutch that links the front axle to rear axle.

and yeah, dont use it for long periods where traction is good, it causes transmission wind up and potentially bust halfshafts or gearbox problems. at the least, it'll cause premature tyre wear.
