Anyone have any ideas what my consumption fuel should be? I just did a trip on main roads and 100 miles round trip at 40-45MPH used half a tank of diesel. I know it LWB and old but that seems an awful lot.

It is also running very hot in summer (just below the redline), Ive taken out the thermostat but it hasn't changed things. I may try and reflush the RAD incase something got stuck when I last replaced the coolant.

Anyway any idreas what the poor consumption could be?

many thanks Andrew

Hi matey have you worked your mpg out I Believe you should get 20mpg ish the oiler is not much better than the petrol engine if any. do you have overdrive that makes a difference. the only reason I went for the oiler is its better in water. mines due a head gasket it also gets rather hot and very quickly. best of luck cartman690...:)

Ive found that the only accurate way of calculating MPG is to fill it up to the brim and run it a bit then fill it up to the brim again and see how much you've put in.

Thanks all,

no O\D but Im getting about 200 to a tank (10 gals) so its about right.

The runing hot is probably OK too, the heater fan works so I never actually over heat, I ut run the fan. Mind I cant chat much as its louder than the diesel engine.

I keep expecting a problem with her but so far shes been great.

Many thanks for putting my mind at rest.
