I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for... I'm wanting to fit a diesel heater but pipe it in to the existing system so I can easily direct it to the window screen etc... the standard heater has never done anything and I've tried all sorts, change radiator in box, changed fan, thermostat etc.

My thought is to remove the matrix box under the bonnet and replace it with a diesel heater that way I'll easily be able to pipe it into the window screen heater system.. would you do this ?

Also I could do with ideas where to have the fuel tank as this will have to be separate to my normal tank as I run veg oil... what's your thoughts ? I don't want a cubby box as I'd like to refit the middle seat once I've sorted the bodged in gearbox!

has anyone else done this or can give me some ideas on mounting but able to pipe in to existing system ?

Thanks

How much is the diesel heater your looking at? Do you want it just to improve the heater and use it as a demistor? If so, a heated screen is only just over £100, new seal £20, a few hours wiring and accessories £30. That’s the way I would go.

The cheap chinese heaters off of ebay seem to get decent write up, 110 quid complete kits.

I can see your idea working but not sure how much air flow you will get that far from the heater itself? I mention this as I have one on our boat and whilst it does provide hot air it is quite localised and the air flow is more of a dribble, it works there is no denying that but I wouldnt have thought much cop for demisting, be great for getting into a warmish ice free car.

Some people have mounted the diesel heater behind the seats as it has got a nice easy to fit to flat surface.

I want it for both heat and demisting the window screen but the later more than the forth as I can wear a jacket!

I think I might go with this and fit one at a later date under the middle row seats

I wired a Chinese one in for my mates dad in a van it was in the back and pipe it to the front and it kicked out some air and heat.. the main reason I want it is to dismist the screen but I might do the above and stick a heater under the middle row seats at a later date!
