hi i got p38 range rover im lookin for a diagnostic tool bearmach got one but does any body no of a cheeper one.and witch one i need.dan

the plus side of the bearmach kit is . it is not chassis number specific. ie it will work on any vehicle model that the unlock code has been purchased for. no need for a laptop just keep it in the glove box in case ( no scrap that ) for when you need it :D

I found it for £249.99 plus vat @ 17.5%

I like that it isn't locked to one vehicle although it is locked to one vehicle type and as mentioned, shame it doesn't do HEVAC.

I'm in a predicament that I have a HEVAC fault showing as well as an ABS fault. I got no idea whether to get it to an Indyfor a code read at about £40 or whether to buy a Faultmate FCR and do it myself.

Can anybody tell me if the price with VAT is correct (Faultmate), it seems to still be 15%

IMHO while diagnostics do make things a bit quicker they're not essential at least for troubleshooting HEVAC. You can manually test the blend and direction motors by cycling each side from LO to HI and changing air direction. You can also manually test pressure switch and temp switch and fuses. Diag won't tell you if you have a leak or low refrigerant, or a worn compressor, you gotta do that the old fashioned way.

VAT is 15% in Cypress
