derv freelander idle probs

help me plz i got a 20ltr 1998 freelander deisel when im driveing it seems to want to cut out on me and when i stop it revs up to about 3,000 rpm and then ticks over nice then goes up to 2,500/3,000 rpm on its own there is no power lose ive changed the air filter as it was stinking dirty i got a new fuel filter to put on and want to know is there a pipe on the bottem as i have noticed a smaller filter going to a sensor with no pipe going to it dose this small clear filter go to the main fuel filter can anybody help me with this problem plz thanks andrew

sounds like a faulty throttle position sensor. 3000rpm ish is the default limp mode. http://tuning-diesels.com/Edc15m/edc15m.htm#lhm

thanx m8 will try and have a look at that and see if it will solve the problems

You may get a response if you fiddle with the wiring to the injector pump with the engine running also check the wiring to no.1 injector. Both these areas are known to suffer from dodgey wiring.
