Hi there , Can anyone tell me where the oil rotor filter is situated on the td5 engines, just bought a service kit but can't seem to find this filter anywhere, any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Standing looking in the engine bay from the front of the motor, look just to the mid-right of the engine, from the top. There's a domed cap held on by two (or is it three...?) 10mm bolts. When you take the bolts out and the top off, there's a small filter underneath which you lift out. The new filter comes with a big 'O' ring for the cap. It's very easy to change, should only take a few minutes. It's what makes the 'winding down' whirring sound when you switch the engine off. I think it spins at about 13,000rpm max.. Have you changed the main oil filter yet? That's a real doozey to change, you can get it off reasonably easily, just wait until you try and line the threads up to get the new one on. Think 'Indiarubber man'..

The centrifugal should be changed with the oil. The spin-on filter should be changed every 3 oil changes according to LR, ie 36k miles. Personally I would change the oil a little more often than that.

Many people have thought their turbos were stuffed and it is just the oil filter winding down. It's the best thing about the TD5 IMHO.
