Last week I had the known problem of smoking handbrake boot which I understand is due to faulty earth and handbrake cable becoming the earth. The vehicle started OK afterwards and once again having been parked up for 1/2hr.
I have stripped our cable and ordered a replacement and cleaned up the earthing points between battery, chassis and transfer box. Now when I try to start the vehicle (New brake cable nor fitted yet) the yellow relay under driver's seat buzzes and there glowplug and engine lights on dash do not illuminate. Engine will turn over so I do not suspect a duff battery. I have run a 6mm2 cable from battery earth to ECU as some forum posts suggest this is a work around but it has not solved the problem. I have tested the yellow relay and the black one next it and all OK.No blown fuses.
Any thoughts on what else to check/replace etc.

Take a look at the fuses ,I believe from memory (I don't have a diagram with me) its fuse No 15 it could also be No 12 in the passenger compartment those in the centre of the vehicle. One of those two feed the dash lights,
The 60 amp and 100 amp link fuses feed the starting relay and glow plugs these are found under the seat 60amp is link No5 and 100amp is link No1. each of these is worth a look at in the first instance.

Thanks you Tim4x4 - all fuses OK ... Whilst I've cleaned up the earths from battery to transfer box and installed direct earth battery to ECU, I wonder if the other chassis to engine earth straps might be suspect but I can't really believe that they would be cause of problem. One interesting observation is that the clicking relay only started after I stripped out the melted handbrake cable.
