Hey Guys,
I have recently competely rebuilt my defend. ers front axle. I have fitted completely new swivel tractor seals and bearing and top pins. I have shims with them. Can anyone tell me how the shims work? I know I am looking for 4-5kg movement on the hub but should i add shims or take them away? Should i just use one shim or a combination?
Also I have converted my TD5 back to a 300tdi configaration without the colour coded shims on the hub. I have two nuts instead. I have found on one side I don't have enough endfloat. Does anyone know how to adjust the end float? I assume to increase it you should do up the nut, backing of to relieve stress on the bearings? Is this correct?
Any help appreciated guys...
Dave
