Hi,

I asked today to the Jaguar official dealer who sold me last month my used Defender 90 Td5 2002 MY and he confirmed he just replaced engine oil and one of the oil filters. Non even diesel filter or air filter ... that's to save his money and earn more over the car sale

Since I don't know anything at all about past 8 years of life of my car and what the previous owner did, I would like to do a complete check up in order to start from today onwards with regular maintainance, starting from scratch.

What list of works do you suggest me to do to a 8 years old Landy with 78.000 Km ?
Should I replace oil to gearbox, reductor, differentials too ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Change what you are not sure of and start from a known point. Axle oil is relatively cheap compared to a new diff as is gear oil compared to a new gearbox.
First thing I do when I get a new motor is change all the oils and fluids along with the filters.

Hi,
just came back now from service center.

I asked to replace front and back diff. oil, reductor oil and gearbox oil (ATF Dexter 3)
All shafts and cruises have been greased.
Diesel filter and centrifugal oil filter replaced.
(normal oil filter and oil had been replaced by Jaguard dealer who sold me the car)
Fan belt replaced as well.
Diesel pressure regulator replaced 'cause of a diesel leak.

A bill of GBP 400,00 (Euro 500,00) to pay ...

That's all.

I know ... but Italy is generally more expensive compared to UK being Land Rover a "foreign" car here.
For example the Fuel Pressure Regulator it costs as spare part official price from Land Rover Italy Euro 137,00+ 20% VAT
and Euro 10,00 + VAT 20% the gasket ... that means about GBP 140,00 not including about 1/2 hour extra work ....
