Good evening all.Could someone please advise me as to the best way of fitting defender door seals to a 1980 series 3 swb estate. some people say to cut off the small 90 degree lip fold off all round the tub/bulkhead/and roof but others say just straighten it out, also will the seal cover over the original rivet holes of the old seals or will they need fillng in.,and will I have to use the series 3 bottom door seal that runs along the top of the sill. Thanks

Mine has had the lip cut off the tub and the soft top frame, but the galvanized bulkhead and windscreen frame still have the lip on them. I just fitted the seal over the lip and have not had any problems.

As I understand it the seal can be fitted OVER the lip. I haven't done this myself but that's what I read somewhere. I wouldn't EVER cut the lip off nor would I straighten it out. Such butchery!!!

I can confirm they do fit over the lip with no problem. I have done that on my bulkhead as I did not fancy cutting a freshly galvanised bulkhead to match the cuts already made before my ownership on the tub and roof
