Hi all.
Am after a pair of longer droping rear shock absorbers for defender +5" ones will do or anything similar, Have got +2"shocks and need more travel.

Anyone got a used or new pair of them? Need to be standard fitting ones not pin to pin etc unless they come with correct chassis mounts!!

Many thanks

You can get +12 (15") ones on ebay. You will need to buy or make an eye to pin adaptor which is pretty easy to make. Also some raised mounts.

Am only running cranked arms so not really worth it. And wouldn't that long just limit the upward travel? 3" lift and its got -2 mounts& turrets and +2" shocks so just thinking +5"s would be best move. It's flex's great as it is now but could get bit more flex ah think. Nearly the same as my mates RAC flex kit but not quite.

Also would you recommend rose joint rear arms?!!
Have been thinking about it but I do a lot of road work and surely they would make it wander around like hell, Aframe joint isn't going to stop it that great?

with +12 shocks I run +8 mounts and run standard bump stops so I have the right amount of up travel.
rose joint arms are fine, I made a set, they don't wander at all.. be less than bushed if anything!

If I where to recommend arms, get the ones with d3 bushes at the chassis end... brilliant joints!
failing that johnny joint arms.

-2 mounts are designed for +2 spring spacers and +2 extended bump stops.
if you have +2 shocks and -2 mounts you wont be using the bump stops at all! And will be bottoming out the shocks as you've reduced the up travel by 4 inches!

With a 3" lift I'm only gaining +1" of travel with my set up, with mine of full flex I haven't seen the shocks bottom out as yet even with the wheel wedged up inside the arch?

What do you think of these trailing arms?

Surely they would let the axle wander side to side???

The problem with rose joints is there not sealed. They would be good but I would buy some rubber boots from mcgill motorsport personally. They would last a lot longer.

the axle will not move side to side because of the a frame.
