Hi everyone, im new to this forum and pretty new to Landys too!! Two weeks ago i finally got my boyhood dream of a 110 defender and i love it!!!!
Tonight however i have run into a problem and i wonder if any users can shed any light on this!!!
My defender is an ex electricity board van and as such has a Power take off, powering a superwinch at the front.
Tonight i tried it out and after a bit of lever pulling and swearing i got it to work!!
But on driving home i felt that something was wrong... upon inspection it appears that the PTO is permanently engaged now turning the auxilary propshaft to the winch whilst driving. Its noisy and i assume NOT GOOD!
Could the cable that engages the PTO snapped? or any other suggestions what i can do!!!
dont want to drive it like it is as the PTO propshaft is rubbing on part of the exhaust and looks like it could wear through it!
your thoughts and help are appreciated!

Have you not got a lever down by your handbrake lever? If so you should just need to push it in.

Or, take it all off as it not required at all and only adds extra weight.

Then give it to me for £30.00

Bastid i want it.

Lubricate it. Check it has tension too. Also get underneath and with it in disengaged position lightly tap it with a hammer. May be that your transfer box is low on oil and so things a bit stiff around pto
