Hey everyone, I'm Adam... so late 2015 I'd just about had enough of 'cruising' around in a lowered vauxhall Corsa (Sorry! I was a teenager when I bought it), looking like a chaved up drug dealer, grounding it out every time I drove to work or to my local pub (I live in the Country)... so I got chatting to the mechanic next door to my workshop and very quickly talked me into getting a defender 110, to be honest I was surprised it hasn't crossed my mind before… When I was a kid I love defenders but somehow forgot to think about getting one after I could actually drive. Anyway it's been over a year since I got my 1994 defender 110 300tdi CSW and I wouldn't drive anything else now, it's spot on for everything I need, my job, my band etc etc... since I've had it ive somehow found my self in a well paying job too so I've spent the last year getting parts ready for a full ground up rebuild..galv chassis, galv bulkhead, galv side posts, td5 fuel tank, new steering bars and box, new injection pump new fuel pump, gas flowed head, Mach 5 steel 16" wheels..the list goes on.. but the time is now fast approaching to actually do the work now and wanna pull together as much advice from as many seasoned defender owners as possible… The mechanics next door to my workshop are doing most of the work but all of the bodywork will be down to me. I am fine furniture and guitar builder so the actual workload doesn't scare me it's just making sure I don't run into any unforeseen problems when I have a time limit to work to! I shall be posting questions in the rebuild section in the coming weeks and months any and all advice is very welcome! I'll be building it with every day use in mind as well as very long distance overlands (Morocco, Iceland etc...) and *some off roading, but nothing so dangerous I'd need a roll cage or lift kit..

Cheers guys,
Adam

Hi Adam,

Welcome to the loonyzone, if you are looking for inspiration then you can not go wrong by looking at Aaron Morris posts about his ground up rebuilds.
Good luck.

Cheers

Yeah security is a big concern, I figured a pedal lock, upgraded locks, smash proofing the glass, that should stop any opportunists, then an alarm, tracker a blockade on my drive and I'll install a Doberman... ;) anything else I can do?
