Hi guys, I've recently bought a 1998 white Defender 110 and the hinges are bleeding rust. The car looks great apart from this. SS bolts have been fitted, but the rust is still there.

Questions:-

1) the later hinges have a grease nipple and washer to stop metal to metal. Phoned paddocks for a price, they said these are for later models and don't know if they will fit my motor. Does anyone know, will they fit?

2) if not, I'm thinking about powder coating them. Has anyone done this or similar? Can the hinges be disassembled for coating?

Thanks

They look a fair price, think I will try the stove enamell route. The landie is white with black chequer plate so thinking about doing the hinges black as well, at least any rust won't show up as much then.

I replaced my door hinges last summer, primed them and hand painted them and already I have rusty stains... Good idea to really do a top job getting them ready but I wonder if the steel pins that go through can be replaced with stainless? I wonder if thats the bit that dribbles the rust?
Dont forget when replacing hinges there is a top and bottom hinge. I didn't realise and offered the door up... had to start again! Compare the old ones dont just throw them in a bucket.
