I was just reading the post about the guy who had his 2005 Defender stolen, and it has got me wondering about ours. Being a CSW it has the factory fit alarm/immobiliser and my question is, is it any good? I assume that the thieves got past his...
Is it true that in the first 12 months of getting a new vehicle Direct Line will replace it with a new one?
 
its fine but if a pro theif wants it they will take it, same goes for any security
 
Agreed, I think however, that if you made some of your own modifications to the security system you could throw even a pro theif.

Things they would not even think off, complete botch (in apperance) jobs that are quite effective!
 
The thieves 'got passed my security system', by breaking into the conservatory and nicking both sets of keys.

The really good security systems are the completely non-standard ones that don't have things like keys. For example, the hidden fuel shut-off tap...

Not sure about the 12 month policy with Direct Line - I doubt it though, given my experience so far with them. NFU do have a policy of replacing a vehicle up to 24 months old with a new one...
