Defender 90 Side Door Sill Help!!

Hi all
Hope you are well.
I’m removing rock sliders off my defender 90 TD5 and noticed that there are no original lower door sills onviously.
I bought some 3mm chequer plate sill protectors.
I was wondering can the sill protectors be welded or fitted somehow without the original sills or do I need to buy the factory sills first.
I don’t off road so durability is not really a requirement, just need them secure.

Presumably your chequer plate protectors pop rivet on to the sills. You could make some little brackets, similar to the ones on the standard Defender sills, and fix them to your chequer plate covers. Pretty easy to make out of a bit of aluminium plate and you could pop rivet them them to the chequer plate and bolt, as normal sills would, to the inner sill rail.
Or you could buy some solid 3mm ones from YRM. I put them on my rebuild years ago. Tad expensive now though https://yrmit.co.uk/product/aluminium-sill-rail-land-rover-defender-90/
