Hello,
I am curious what this unused cable complete with a socket is in the engine bay of my LHD 2010 2.4 Defender 90 (Puma) is. It is on right hand side of the engine bay as seen when driving so on the left as you look at it from the front of the car as per this photo. It is normally tucked under the bonnet release cable. It has two wires, one white the other black.

Possibly for use on RHD vehicles, such as the brake fluid level sensor. Have you got a similar item on the opposite side of your vehicle, or wires of the same colour connected to the brake fluid res or clutch master cylinder?

Thanks, Wimblowdriver, yes on the other side there is a two-wire cable going to the top of the brake fluid reservoir. Wires are black and black with a white trace. The connectors are just two spade push on connectors so seems unlikely this is the same. Do not see anything connected to the clutch master cylinder. Looked through all the detailed wiring diagrams on LRWORKSHOP’s website which only list 24 white wires but again nothing seems to match this. It does seem original though not some later add on. Will keep poking around.
