Hi I have a defender 110 XS and my water washers dont work. Wipers do when I press the switch but not the washers. Plenty of water in the bottle suspect the pump. How do you gain access to the bottle do you have to remove the headlamp assembly or what. Thanks Peter

Yes in through the passenger side wing when you have removed the headlight, if you cannot hear the pump while pressing the washer button then thats the probably whats wrong. Welcome to landyzone.

Are you sure that the water isn't iced up?

The pump won't work if so...I'd also check the fuse (if separate) before you start taking everything apart :)

Hi, Thanks for the replies
I know the fuse and the pipes are OK. The rear screen wash works but not the front. I beleive there are 2 pumps from the same bottle one for the front and one for the back. Ill check the route of the pipes for joints being blocked etc before taking the light out.

Hi fixed the problem. Washbottle pump behind the headlight. swapped rear and front pipes over and rear worked but not front so suspected blocked pipe. Found that a non return valve is situated in the engine compartment under the wing in front of the passenger area. Put a new one in fine. Took Non return valve apart and the diaphragm was faulty. Now all works fine.
