Been thinking a while about a new Defender build after my old one got wrote off. Picked up an ex ESB (irish electricity board) to keep me going for a while and then started thinking about making that a dcpu again, a crewcab CSW or start from scratch and build a 130 with a TDV6/V8, 3.2 tdci or even a BMW M57 or 67.

More I thought about it though, the advantages a 130 has, they still don't outweigh the practicality, proportions in looks and cost and time to build one from scratch for me. Especially as I have a fresh strong TD5 now again in my own 110, it makes sense to keep that so have decided to make it a DCPU like my old one as I still really miss it especially as didn't really get all the plans I had for it finished :)

It'll be very like my old black one (thread here) but only with a sectioned full length roof rack that can be shortened when needed, my roof tent, side awning, rear and side work lights, front roof and grill LED lightbars, my trucklite headlamps, rear lower tub converted into into a drawer unit for tools etc and tub checker plated. 4 recaros fitted and center console extending to the rear bulkhead with storage inside it and maybe a small fridge if can be fitted within it.

Planning on covering every bit of interior panel to make it as quite as possible and have a set of new galvanise doors for it, going to see if can make the rear windows electric too somehow if anybody has any ideas and also what's the best sound proofing to use in them as been a while since looked into it :)
Seen some stuff Mud do that's suppose to be good against water. I know there is ways to make something very quite with multiple layers of resonance killer, foam and then lining but would end up quite thick and may not live upto wading if ever go abit deeper than planned :D

Also, not sure if I'll go get a galvanise bulkhead or not as my own seems perfect and wondering is it adding alot of extra cost and effort stripping it down that far when bulkhead is probably still fine with a good painting, Not doing a galvanize chassis either as don't really have the time and chassis has no issues at the moment other than I'll be modifying the rear cross member for a winch and spare wheel carrier.

Anybody any ideas that might be good to do while it's stripped down to change to double cab and paint :)

Pics are from what my 2 door was like, is like now and what my old 110 dcpu was like
