def 90 disco engine gearbox mod

Hi Having fitted a disco engine in my defender, can anyone confirm that there is a mod involving using 3rd and 4th gears from a disco and putting them into the gearbox on my defender as it seems to have plenty of power spare at the top end and may improve mpg and noise level. If so any info of how to proceed would be most welcome.

there isnt an actual 4th gear its just connecting input shaft to out ,3rd gear is the same or very similar in all the boxes, 5th can be swapped for some little improvement but normally you swap t/box ratio

Thanks for that, is it difficult and therefore not worthwhile for the possible gains, or is it a fairly straightforward job??:confused2:
